Why the development of the Health Centre is vital for patients

1.    The number of contacts each patient has with the health centre is increasing rapidly as healthcare gets better and our population gets older.  We do not have the room to see more people without building extra accommodation.

2.    The waiting room is far too small to seat the number of people waiting at busy times. The waiting room needs to be bigger.

3.    We have no room to store medical records any more, which are expanding drastically.

4.    The staff have no room in which they can meet, make a drink and discuss professional matters.

5.    Essential activities such as taking blood often have to be done in a minute room without facilities for patients to lie down.

6. We have doctors and nurses working more hours than ever before. This restricts what can do and will stop us being able to undertake the necessary expansion of the NHS.

7. To fulfil requirements for extended care for the elderly, diabetics and mentally ill, as detailed in the NHS's National Service Frameworks that we are expected to undertake, we need more accommodation, support staff and doctors and nurses. Not only can we not do it without a bigger building, but we will not be able to get additional staff to work in such a run down place. In addition, as doctors and nurses retire, it will be very difficult to replace them for the same reason. The is especially relevant at a time of dire shortage of doctors and nurses. Unless something is done, it is quite possible there could  be no health centre as we presently know it in Keyworth in 10 years time.

8. The roof leaks periodically and need renewing.

9.  In heavy rain, water flows off Bunny Lane and floods our front offices

Everybody wants and expects the NHS to improve.
It cannot happen without changes.
Please think carefully about whether you approve or disapprove of improving Keyworth Health Centre FOR YOU.
