History of KHC

The present Health Centre was built in 1970 to cope with the rapidly expanding population of Keyworth. Before that the practice was run from the surgery house at 36 Selby Lane (Carraig-Airt), while in the 1950's the practice the practice was at Dr Russell's house on Bunny Lane, (now Winson's Opticians) and Dr Stevenson's previous house on Melton Road, Tollerton. The building is owned by the Nottingham Community Trust and the Keyworth Medical Practice rents part of the building for their exclusive use, and shares part with Nottingham Community Trust staff such as health visitors, midwives, district nurses. The building was improved and enlarged in 1995 to cope with extra staff and extra services we now provide. A new centre is planned for 2005-6.

PRIMARY CARE TRUST This practice, along with other Practices in Rushcliffe, is part of the Rushcliffe Primary Care Trust (PCT) for the purpose of organising more uniform services. Primary Care Groups came into being in April 1999, and took more responsibility on becoming Trusts later on. Ruchcliffe became a Trust in April 2001. PCGs replaced Fundholding, which this practice played very active part in.
