Emergency contraception

Emergency contraception is usually taken in the form of tablets within 72 hours of the risky event. The sooner it is taken the more effective it is. Therefore if you need it you should inform the health centre straight away or as soon as we open. We ensure that emergency contraception is provided as soon as possible by giving an appointment with a doctor or nurse very quickly. To make sure you get what is needed it is best to tell our staff that you need emergency contraception. If for some reason you are unable to see us about it, it is available from some other clinics such as the Victoria Health Centre on Glasshouse Street.

At weekends, if the health centre is not going to be open the next day you should ring our number (9373527) and you will be put through to the emergency service which will deal with the problem.
